Thomas Lane Kingston

1938 ~ 2023

Corvallis, MT-Thomas Lane Kingston, age 85, passed away peacefully, on September 16, 2023. He was born in Seattle, Washington on March 17, 1938, to Everrett Keith Kingston and Helen Esther Carmin, but spent his childhood in Doniphan, Nebraska. As a young adult he moved to Kearns, Utah in 1958 where he began his career with Union Pacific Railroad. On May 27, 1960, he married Betty Angeline Saunders, where he was blessed with four children. He developed a love and appreciation for trains as he worked his way up to middle management. In 1973, he was transferred to Las Vegas, Nevada where he served as District Foreman for the diesel shop. His railroad journey moved him back to Utah in 1980, at one time he was overseeing 22 trains carrying 10,000 pounds of coal each. He retired in 1992, after 34 years of dedicated service. His stated his favorite part of the job was working with outstanding railroad officers, who shared his deep understanding and love of railroad operations. He moved to Corvallis, Montana after admiring the beautiful state while helping his son's family move there and made some amazing new friends through the Calvary Chapel and his "coffee group".

Over the next 30 years he traveled all over the world; Israel, Egypt, France, Ireland, Columbia, Puerto Rico, Aruba, and Disney World to name a few. He loved traveling with his children and grandchildren, and had an enriched life filled with wonderful experiences; ziplining in Aruba, passing through the Panama Canal, and kissing the Blarney Stone.

He is survived by his children, Mark & Louise Kingston of Corvallis, MT; Cheri & Mike Post of Fredericksburg, VA; Kip and Colette Schaelling of West Bountiful, UT; sister Madeline Crandell of Oak Hills, CA and nephew Gary Eyten of Grand Island, NE. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, especially his 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Everrett Keith Kingston, mother Helen Esther Carmin, sister "Janie" Eyten and beloved daughter Angee Jo Kingston Crosby. His ashes will be placed alongside his daughter at Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice in his name.

Something I will forever be grateful that my grandpa did for my family and I is he never left town without making sure we had a working vehicle with a fresh oil change, new tires, and anything else he thought it might need. He was the best grandpa and he loved us all with everything in him. Every time I take a picture and someone says "smile" I will hear him saying "mickey mouse" which will cause me to smile even bigger. I love you so much grandpa, thank you for EVERY THING!
