Wayne Edward Bott passed away in South Jordan, Utah.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 27, 2019 , at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest LDS Ward House, located at 435 E. 5600 S. Viewings will be held Friday, July 26th at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St., from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, July 27th, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.

I just noticed this obituary as I was thinking about Wayne and his Christmas card was returned to me.
I was an enthusiastic new teacher back in 1978 and Wayne was the librarian at Academy Park. He was my lifeline with wisdom and experience. At the end of the day, I would stop in and we would talk about challenges of the day and share ideas and laughter. He was always so cheerful and we formed a bond that lasted through his life.
We went to Mill Hollow in the summer for a number of years. One time, we took a group of 6th graders on an overnight backpack trip. I learned a lot about managing the kids from Wayne and he was a gentle and wise mentor. I fondly remember the school bus rides with him. He kept a photo from our bus ride and I loved that he treasured the memory of those times also.
I later married and moved to Wisconsin but we stayed in touch. One of the really outstanding things about Wayne is how much in love he was with his Joyce. He always talked about her. She was the treasure of his life and he missed her so much when she passed. Now they are together in Paradise.
To Wayne's children, I want to tell you he was so very proud of all of you and loved you so much. You had a special dad.
Until we meet again, Wayne, dear friend. You are so special and will never be forgotten by me. Love you! Gina Morgan
