null Musgrave Obituary

Billie Ruth Thompson Musgrave went to be with our Lord Saturday, July 29, 2006, surrounded by her loved ones. Billie Ruth was born October 19, 1921 to Anne Gardner Thompson and Frederick Peter Thompson in Big Foot, Texas at their family ranch. She was an only child but surrounded by many loving cousins who she continued to be close to throughout her life. Billie Ruth was raised in Crystal City, Texas, graduated from Crystal City High School, and attended Texas A & I and Texas Women's College. She was a beautiful person who was named Queen Acelga, Queen of the Spinach Festival in Crystal City, and also Miss Southwest Texas. She had an inner beauty that is remembered by all who know her. She met Captain Philip Cebern Musgrave in San Antonio and they were married March 11, 1942. Phil was in the Army Air Corp and they lived an exciting life all over the world. Their children, Philip Cebern Musgrave, Jr, and Olive Anne Musgrave Kleberg remember her as a devoted mother, and wife, who made 'home' for them no matter where they were. They retired in San Antonio, which was home for both of their families. Billie Ruth was President of the Military Civilian Club, a charter member of the Assistance League, President of the Laurel Heights Garden Club, a member of the Battle of Flowers Association, Women of the Church at St Luke's Episcopal Church, the Argyle Club and the San Antonio Country Club. She was blessed to have many wonderful friends who brought her great joy. She was a mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, who unconditionally loved her family and considered them her greatest passion in life. They will always consider themselves blessed to have her as a role model in their lives. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and gave of herself to the very end. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anne and Fred Thompson, and her husband of sixty years, Colonel Philip Cebern Musgrave. She leaves her son, Philip 'Cebe' Musgrave, Jr. and wife Joann Coates; daughter, Olive Anne Musgrave Kleberg, and husband Richard M. 'Tres' Kleberg, III; her grandchildren, Anne Marie Kleberg Bailey and husband Jeff, Marguerite Cebern Musgrave, Christina Kleberg-Jonker, and husband Attie, and Richard M. 'Cardo' Kleberg, IV, and wife Britt, and step-granddaughter Paula Coates. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Cole and Olivia Bailey, and Tano, Beau and Cebe Kleberg. Billie's family wishes to thank Celia, Patrick and Cisco Pena whose devotion and love were evident throughout her life and her illness. She loved them in return. We also thank Dr. David Gordon and all of his staff. We would also like to thank all the nurses who sat with her and gave her support and care, Liz Laird, Mary Freeman, Maria Nartudes, Dina Norwood, Lupe Leal, Brenda Jaye, and Vince Walsh.
