December 3, 1925 - October 13, 2025
Msgr Albert H. Hubertus, age 99 years, died on October 13, 2025. He was 2 ½ months shy of his 100th birthday. Msgr Albert was born on a farm, between Selma and New Braunfels, on December 3, 1925. He was the second oldest of seven children of Joachim and Leonora (Fey) Hubertus, In 1939, at the age of 13, he joined St. John's Seminary, He was ordained into the priesthood on May 27, 1950, Following his ordination he served at parishes in Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Selma, Weimar, El Campo and his final parish, which he was instrumental in establishing, St Anthony Mary Claret in San Antonio In 2000, at the age of 75, he retired and took up residence at Casa de Padres, a retirement center for priests, In September of 2021, he decided it was time to retire, again, so he gave up driving, cooking, cleaning his apartment, etc., and moved to an assisted living retirement home for priests, Padua Place, where he remained until his death.

Father Albert was always so friendly! He was such a pleasure to talk to. We met at Saint Anthony Claret and he was instrumental in the opening of the church. He will be missed.
