HARVEY
Bill Harvey, long-time resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2013, at the age of 91. Bill is survived by Beryl Harvey, his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, his daughter, JoAnn Jeffrey, and her husband, Dr. Doug Jeffrey of Eugene, Oregon, and his son, Bill Harvey and his wife, Cindy, of Boerne, Texas. He is also survived by three accomplished grand-daughters of whom he was very proud: Dr. Emily Jeffrey, Capt. Claire Jeffrey and her husband, Capt. Jonas Beaver, and Dr. Jenna Jeffrey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Bill was born in Clarendon, Texas, on November 19, 1921. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and survived the sinking of the LST-884 at Iwo Jima. He met Beryl, a Registered Nurse, in Saudi Arabia in 1951, when he was a hospital administrator for the Arabian American Oil Company. He moved to Texas with his family in 1957, and retired from the Texas Dept. of Corrections in 1987. Bill was an avid sports fan. He closely followed financial markets and world politics and enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. Bill and his wife attended Community Bible Church in San Antonio.

A visitation will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary at 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78212, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Fri., May 24. A burial service and interment will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Sat., May 25.

Chaplain Daniel Portillo will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 5430 Fredericksburg Rd., #200, San Antonio, Texas 78229; (210) 348-4300.
