Buster Lind Obituary

Edinburg - On December 13th Buster went home to be with our Lord. As Shakespeare said, 'É in a general honest thought and common good to all É his life was gentle, and the elements so mixed in him that Nature might stand up and say to all the world, 'This was a man!' " He will be missed dearly. Buster was owner and manager of Buster Lind Produce which was founded in 1939 by his father and mother, Lucian Sr. and Lilly. His youngest son, Patrick, took over the business in 1990 as the third generation. Mr. Lind was a World War II veteran where he served in the Navy stationed in Attu on the Aleutian Islands. He also was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Edinburg and member of the McAllen Elks Lodge. Mr. Lind was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marilyn Jo and an infant son, Michael. Buster is survived by his wife of 57 years, Colleen, and five children: Georgeanne (Kent) Weaver of Raymondville; Rebecca (Raymond) Jenkins of San Antonio; Matthew of San Antonio; John of Denver; Patrick (Gloria) of Edinburg; two sisters: Martha Ruth Sheives of San Antonio; Marj Bryan of Houston; six grandchildren: Jennifer Hawkes, Stephanie Swartz, Ryan & Ruthanne Jenkins, Cameron & Chelsea Lind; and two great-grandchildren: Harllie Hawkes and David Andrew Swartz. Evening Prayer & Rosary will be held today, Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 7 pm with viewing to begin at 6:30 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Edinburg. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 16, 2005 at 10 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery on North Taylor Road in McAllen. Pallbearers will be Ryan Jenkins, Cameron Lind, Larry Ruiz, Jim Banter, Leo Cantu, Pete Mariscal, David Perez and Chick Perez. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to The Sandi Jo Funk Hospice Program, Valley Baptist Medical Center, PO Drawer 2588, Harlingen, TX 78551.
