César de León Obituary

César de León was born in Brownsville, Texas on October 31, 1934, to Timoteo de León and Manuela Saldana de León. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Beathard de León, his three children, Leticia de León-Bradley and husband Doug, Cesar Jaime de León and Patricia Sylvia de León. César is also survived by his stepchildren Rob Alexander and wife Dianne and Stephen Alexander, grandchildren Connor, Sophie and Chloe Bradley and Alexis de León as well as his step grandchildren Ryan, Patrick, Mason, Brooke, Aydin Alexander and a brother Eusebio Franco and wife Mary.
César graduated from University of Texas in 1958 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and went on to receive his Master of Civil Engineering from Texas A&M in 1962. During early years living in Ft. Worth, Texas, working for the Western Company and raising a young family with his former wife Minerva Saenz de León, César involved himself in Tarrant County politics, serving as Assistant County Chairman for a U.S. political party. These years of enthusiastic civil service inspired César to accept a political appointee position with the Federal Government, serving 27 years with the Department of Transportation, Deputy Director of the Office of Pipeline Safety, Washington, DC. From there, he pursued entrepreneurship in Denver, Colorado, forming his own company, GeoCondor, building and selling oil and gas drilling trucks and equipment. Later, César returned to the Federal Government, to his position with DOT. Upon his retirement, with career experience and expansive knowledge of pipeline regulations, César owned and served as President of PanAm Consultants, San Antonio, TX, providing litigation and services focused on the oil and gas industry. César was a member of several organizations such as LULAC, Knights of Columbus, Sembradores of San Antonio, and many more that kept him busy and engaged.
César had a passion for life and travel, taking his family on adventurous road trips to Mexico City, Cape Cod, New Orleans, Puerto Vallarta - exploring the US and exotic destinations with family. He loved to dance! He had a witty sense of humor and was always the life of the party. Loyal to career, religious beliefs, relationships, and family...he was stable and dependable and the "rock" of our family. César's hobbies included collecting minerals and gemstones, reading periodicals, learning anew every day, and valued a good education ensuring his children and grandchildren received the best education. Memories of César will remain a precious legacy of a kind and caring man that was a son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
