Charles Deitiker Obituary

DEITIKER

Charles Ray Deitiker was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away peacefully on July 25, 2014 at the age of 86. He was born June 27, 1928 in Timpson, Texas to Nicholas Hines and Minnie Rayner Deitiker. After graduating high school in Silsby, Texas, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Japan. He used his GI Bill to attend Texas A & M University and then transferred to the University of Texas in Austin where he graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting in 1950. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1952.

He met his wife, Lucille Spiller in 1953 and they married in San Antonio, Texas in 1954. His career in the hotel industry took them to Galveston, Houston and Austin and they eventually settled in San Antonio with their four children. After moving to San Antonio, he worked in the field of accounting while he pursued his ultimate goal of running his own business. In the late 1960s, he fulfilled that dream and started his CPA practice which he operated continuously throughout his life until his passing.

One of his greatest passions was his dedication to Masonry. As a 32nd Degree Freemason, he was Past Master of Valley Hi Lodge #1407 and Triune Lodge #15 AF & AM. In addition to Masonry, he also served two terms as Worthy Patron in Texas Chapter #35, Order of the Eastern Star. Moreover, he was a living endowed member of the Scottish Rite. Last year, he was honored for his 60th year as an active Mason.

In addition to his many lifetime accomplishments, he was most proud of being a devoted husband and father. In his later years, he relished every opportunity to spend time with his family and always looked forward to holidays and special occasions. He was known for his positive outlook on life and had many loyal friends, clients and business associates. He was knowledgeable and well informed and loved to talk to people on just about any subject. His favorite hobby was fishing and he always had plenty of fish tales to share.

He will be remembered for his willingness to help his fellow man or share his life stories and experiences if he felt it would help someone in need. His solid moral and ethical beliefs were the foundation of his value system. He was diplomatic, fair and always the peacemaker. Charlie Deitiker was one of a kind and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Deitiker; son, James and wife Cindy Deitiker; daughter, Susan Deitiker; son, Philip and his wife Minako Deitiker; daughter Janet Deitiker; sister, Marion West; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Deitiker.
