Clarence Gleinser Obituary

We lost one of the world's finest men on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 to Parkinson's disease. Clarence Gleinser was born October 3, 1923 to Sebald and Mathilda Gleinser in Goliad, TX. He moved to San Antonio in the early 40s where he met his beloved wife of 58 years, Laura. Clarence served in World War II as a radio operator on a troop transport ship. After the war, he married Laura and fathered four children. Survivors are his sons, Richard and wife Darlene, Tom and wife Diane, and Michael Gleinser; daughter, Janice Stewart and husband Warren; grandchildren are Brian, David, Joe, Daryl, Carl, Joshua, Jacob Gleinser and Greg, and Matt Stewart; brothers, Leo and Harold. He was preceded in death by brother, James Gleinser and sister, Pauline Bego. For many years, Clarence owned and operated the Appliance Service Center on Broadway in Alamo Heights until his retirement in the early 80s. He was an avid gardener, hunter, and domino player. Graveside Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery on October 22, 2004 at 9:30 A.M. The world will be a far lesser place without him. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Mission Funeral Home on Cherry Ridge Drive, San Antonio on Thursday, October 21, 2004. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research online at [email protected] or via postal mail to P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY or the Vitas Foundation, 5430 Fredricksburg Rd., No. 200 San Antonio, TX 78229.
