Elida Castillo Obituary

Elida Garza Castillo, 88, of New Berlin, Texas, passed away on October 20, 2025. Born to Victor Garza and Carlota DeLosSantos Garza, Elida lived the American Dream. As with many Texas farmers, she and her family of fifteen travelled each year across states as seasonal migrant farm workers. She became a military wife, mother of three, and business entrepreneur in 1968. Her kindness, wit, and generosity will be cherished by those whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete Castillo, Jr., son Pete Castillo, III, and siblings Jose, Julian Garza, Pete Garza, and Eliza Frias. She is survived by daughters Belinda Castillo and Elizabeth Castillo Minjárez; and grandchildren Abraham Minjárez, Elise Minjárez, and Antonio Guerrero. Her siblings Victor Garza, Jr., Raúl Garza, Hortencia Partida, Alice Cantú, Bertha Arzola, Oralia Moreno, Roger Garza, Gloria Cordova, and René Garza also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dellcrest Funeral Home, with a Chapel Service at 6:00 p.m. Final visitation will be on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with the procession departing at 11:00 a.m. for interment at Victor Garza Memorial Park in Marion, Texas.
