Ellen Dickson Obituary

With our deepest sympathy to the family of Ellen Maverick Dickson upon her passing. Although we did not know Ellen, we feel an inexplicable tie to the Maverick family, having owned and lived in the old Maverick home on E. Sunshine for the last 40 plus years. Occasionally we have met a couple of you who have stopped by to chat on the front porch with us or take a peak inside at the same old rock walls and wood floors where you spent time. Our family, including children, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren have greatly enjoyed our years playing in the spacious front yard, relaxing on the peaceful porch, working in the garden, and hosting many family gatherings within those great rock walls that your family built. As we have aged more now, we know that it is time for our years on this great property to come to and end we plan to sell the property in the soon upcoming months and move on to smaller quarters and closer to family. Thinking of you all. Your mom was special to all of us in the Jockusch family--always interested in us, engaging, and so full of life. I will miss her.

Someone as special as Aunt Ellen will remain in all of our hearts. She was beautiful person inside and out.

I remember Ellen since I was a young boy. I remember being with the group who took Ellen, my grandmother, Agatha Welsh, and my sister, Melba Welsh, to the San Antonio airport for their trip to Europe in about 1951 or '52..... when she married Al in Florence. Ellen was a remarkable woman from a legendary family. I only met her twice and savored every moment. I know how much her family will miss her.
