Helen Durden Obituary

Helen Ruth Durden, age 85 of Schertz, passed away April 7, 2004. She was born on March 30, 1919 to James Thomas and Clara (Sailors) Stone in Comer, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delos R. Durden on October 26, 1986. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Schertz Chapter 911, a member of the Randolph NCO Wives Club, a charter member of the DAV Auxiliary Unit No. 17, Boysville Auxiliary and a Commerative Air Force Culpepper Angel. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a faithful military wife for almost 30 years. She traveled the world over and enjoyed it all. She never met a stranger and loved everyone. No one enjoyed life more than she did. She is survived by her sons, Delos R. 'Ray' Durden, Jr., Columbus, GA and Roderick S. 'Stoney' Durden, Schertz; daughter, Jimette S. Durden, Schertz; sisters, Mary Alice Booth and Jean Stewart, both of Comer, GA; sister-in-law, Bethene Chapman, Adrian, GA; grandsons, David Lee Durden, Columbus, GA, Timothy Matthew Durden, Columbus, GA; great-grandchildren, Kyndall, Hunter, Eric, Kyle and Justin, all of Columbus, GA; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 12, 2004 at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Schertz Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Anyone so desiring may make memorial donations to any Charity of Choice. Arrangements are with Schertz Funeral Home.
