Jack Judson Obituary

October 14, 1927 - January 11, 2017
Jack Judson, Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 11, 2017.

Jack was a patriotic man who loved his country, Texas and San Antonio where he lived all his life. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from USAA in 1986.

Jack spent countless hours giving back to the community. He was awarded a life membership in the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for his work in the National United Way campaign. He was past President of the Claims Men's Association and the Historic and Design Review Commission. He was President of the Austin Highway Revitalization Project and was named Helping Hands Volunteer of the Year 2006 for that project. He served on the Fine Arts Commission and was a member of the San Antonio Conservation Society, the Witte Museum Board of Trustees and Chairman of their collections committee, and Co-Chair of Historic Structures and Sites of the Bexar County Historical Commission.

He was a lifetime collector, primarily of magic lanterns, the forerunners of the modern projector. His passions were numerous, his contributions were great and he will be deeply missed.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Hildegarde Lamm Judson and Jack Judson, Sr. and son, Jack, III. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Linde; daughter, Kate Klein and husband Steven; son Dan Judson and Mary; granddaughters, Sandra and Eleanor; two great grandchildren; sister, Beverly White Spengler and husband Jerry; niece, Anne White Flores and husband Alfred and many cousins.

The family extends special thanks to CTRC, the START Center for Cancer Care and Vitas Healthcare for their dedicated care and compassion.

A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

Contributions may be made to the Witte Museum, 3801 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209 or the Children's Hospital of San Antonio Foundation, 100 NE Loop 410, Suite 706, San Antonio, TX 78216

Jack was a kind and generous man to so many people. My husband worked with Jack on the Austin Hwy. project and always spoke very highly of Jack's efforts. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. My sincere condolences to his beautiful wife and family.
