SLEEPY HOLLOW - James E. Benner, 77, died November 8th, 2016. "Jim" Benner, son of Lois and Walter Benner, devoted husband of Judith A. (Konow) Benner, of Dolton, IL, and loved son-in-law of Peg and Christ Konow, passed away at home in the company of his loving wife, and daughter, Allyson L. Hoffmeyer, of Marengo, IL after struggling with various health issues over the last six years. He was born in Goodland, IN, and the third eldest of seven. His siblings being; Walter, Jesse, Jerald, Jerome, Julee, and Jackie. He grew up in Chicago Heights, IL, and attended Thornton High School, until graduating in 1957. He then graduated from DePaul University in 1967, with three sons at home Brad, Craig, and Todd, and his daughter Allyson on the way. Two more sons would follow, Ross and Brian. Brian went ahead into Heaven in 1976, and was surely there to greet his Daddy. Jim was a great businessman, with distinguished careers at Marmon Group, Teledyne, and wound up his career as President/ CEO of Alps Wire Rope Corporation, until he retired in 2006. He was a fantastic golfer, card player, and puzzler. After retiring he and Judy split their time between Sleepy Hollow and their house near Higgins Lake, MI, affectionately named "The Farm". Man, Husband, Father, Uncle, Cousin, Grand Father, Great Grand Father; the world is a smaller place without him. Visitation will be held on Sunday. Nov. 13, 2015 from 2-7 P.M. at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10:30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in West Dundee.
