James (Jim) Donald Wells III, age 70, passed away on March 7th, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. An avid golfer and dog lover, Jim enjoyed traveling, golf cart rides with his dog Nala, and spending time with his granddaughters.
He was a graduate of The University of Texas with a degree in business and a member of FIJI. After graduating from UT, Jim obtained a J.D. from The University of Houston Law School. He went onto pursue a career in finance as a broker for Lincoln Financial Group for over 20 years where he received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and James Donald Wells Jr.; grandparents, Alba & James Donald Wells Sr. and Grace & Herbert Fields. He is reunited again with his dogs Rocky, Tenley, and Nala.
He is survived by his sons; Colin (Jennifer) and Taylor (Allie); grandchildren; Madison and London; sisters, Dona Leeman (Mike), Martha Wells, and Christi Lea (Bruce); nieces and nephews, Lindsey and Mason Leeman, Brittany Lollis (Brandon), and Brylyn Lea; great niece, Lottie Lollis; and granddogs Reagor and Lemmy.
An informal Celebration of Life will be held at The Club at Sonterra in San Antonio, TX on Saturday March 11th at 5pm as a come and go event, and again on March 18th in Fort Worth, TX at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth – details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Defense League of South Texas.

I love you so much, dad. You may have been short on words and more of a stoic father but you always made sure to show up to every occasion that mattered. Thank you for not only helping in giving me life but also saving my life. I miss you more than words can express and I´ll make sure the legacy you built lives on. I remember Jimmy so well as a young boy! We were cousins and 81/2 years apart! I would spend the night at his Dad and Mom´s house! I would rock him! His sister Dona and Jim and I would play! I spent so many Christmas Day´s at our Grandparent´s house spending time with our big family! So sad I didn´t see Jimmy lately! He was well loved!
