Jesse Romero Obituary

A life-long Texan, Jesse Charles Romero was born in Corpus Christi on November 4, 1960, and grew up in Yoakum.
After graduating from Southwest Texas State University, Jesse worked in grassroots advocacy, where he was mentored by many dedicated community leaders. Together, they registered voters and worked against unfair election policies. Jesse broadened the impact of his advocacy across several Southwestern states and at the Texas Capitol, where he championed public education, improving college access, and quality healthcare for all.
Jesse was a passionate community servant, but most of all, he was a loving father, a caring husband, and relentless athlete. He is predeceased by his parents, Juan Leos and Amelia Ramirez Romero; and his siblings, Amelia "Moya" Romero, Guadalupe "Sonny" Romero, David Romero, John Gilbert Romero, and Eliaro "Eli" Romero.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Anna Alicia Romero, and sons Emiliano Sandino, Antonio Cesar, and Victor Aetius Emmanuel; his siblings, John Romero, Carolyn Romero, and Mary Jane Perez, of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205.

Ana Alicia and family,
Please accept my sincerest "pesame" on the passing of Jesse. Often I thought of calling Jesse to hear passionate discourse on the state of minority rights, but regrettably somehow didn't find the time. The time we shared at the Capitol and the support he gave me to make it through another session will be cherished always. I'll forever remember him as a selfless, humble, young firebrand who fought the good fight, always. Ana Alicia, there is no fonder remembrance than you patiently waiting at the Capitol office for Jesse to compete his work. His work was neverending, yet you were there for him. His devotion will continue and his passion has no end. With my deepest respect and love, Zandra Zúñiga

Gonna miss you cuz. I´m glad we we reconnected. I knew I could call or message you with my political questions and comments. You were the first to remind me of the UT vs Notre Dame game of the season. Until I see you again RIP.
