Joe Huron Obituary

Joe Huron, age 82, entered in eternal rest on April 15, 2008. He was born January 8, 1926 in San Antonio, Texas. At the age of 14 he moved to Los Angeles, California and graduated from Hollywood High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Yeoman 3th Class where his duties included the safeguarding and transmission of classified messages. He received the Victory Medal American/Area and Asiatic-Pacific with two stars service ribbons. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Navy he attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles California and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He also attended Mexico City College in Mexico City, Mexico where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. During his time in Mexico City he met and married his wife, Graciela Tena. Joe and Graciela were married for 50 years; Graciela preceded him in death in 2005. Early in his career he worked as an accountant mostly in the energy business. He had a distinguished civil service career serving in the IRS, the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base in January 1989. After retirement Joe and Graciela traveled across the US, Mexico and Europe. Joe was one of 12 children from David and Adriana Huron. He is survived by his siblings; Beatrice, Adriana, Ruben, Ora, Emily and Ernest, his children; Grace Huron, Denise Dennin and husband Randy, James Huron and wife Tamara, and Arnold Huron, his grandchildren; Brandon and Miranda Dennin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and close family friend Jerry Lozano. Services will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78228. There will be viewing on Monday, April 21st from 6:00-7:00 PM. followed by the Rosary at 7:00 PM. On Tuesday, April 22nd there will be viewing again from 9:00-10:00AM. The Funeral Mass will start at 10:00 AM with Father James Barlow presiding. Interment with full military honors will take place at Ft. Sam Houston at a later date. Memorials to the Sacred Heart League and The Humane Society SPCA of Bexar County - 4804 Fredericksburg Rd. San Antonio, TX can be made in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I recall at least one visit to their home for an excellent dinner when I was attending UTSA. Your parents were very gracious hosts.
