Jose Ocampo Obituary
Jose Macario Ocampo, Jr. was born on February 29, 1932. A strong and quiet man of God, with a profound love of music has left the side of his family to join our heavenly father at the age of 78, on February 23, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents Jose M (SR) and Francisca Rodriguez Ocampo, Brothers Socorro, Luis, and Exzekiel Ocampo. Self educated, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was an assistant Scout Master of Troop 209, St. Alphonsus Church in the late '60s. He worked as an industrial machinist until losing his sight. He was a devoted Catholic and member of the Confraternity of Our lady of Guadalupe at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. He was a loving father and husband and is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Concepcion C. Ocampo. Brother Domingo Ocampo, sisters Rosa Escobar and Santos Arrambide. His greatest passion was camping, traveling and dinning with his sons Jose J. (Gloria) Ocampo.SR, Robert R. (Ann) Ocampo.SR, and Edward E. Ocampo.SR. He had 10 grandchildren Joey Ocampo, Vincent Ocampo, David Ocampo, Rob Ocampo, Michael Ocampo, Evan Ocampo, Eddie Ocampo, Jason Mendez and Jennifer (Rick) Leal. He was also blessed to have 12 great grandchildren: Jose J. III, Mariela, Mathew, Caleb, Madelyn Hope, Kylee, Isaiah, Aliyah Rose, Eddie III, Jonathon M., Robert Hudson and Hayden. Our Family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of Regent Care Medical Center and Odyssey Hospice for all their kind support in Dad's care.
SERVICES
A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at Oak Hills Mortuary on Thursday, March 3, 2011 with a Prayer Vigil to begin at 7:00 PM. A church service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 4, 2011 at St. Matthews Catholic Church with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Connie, Joe, Bob, and Ed~
It was such a pleasure getting to know Mr. Ocampo during his stay at Regent Care. I have so many fond memories of Joe including hours of spending mealtimes together and of course him referring to me as "Doctor Erin." You all are such a special family and I not only will miss Joe, but miss seeing y'all so often! I hope you all know how special you are to me and I will always cherish the memories we had together. My heart goes out to you all during this difficult time.
