Joyce Brown Bradfield was a native San Antonian born May 27, 1935 to Curtis and Roberta Brown. She adored her older brother Zach.
She grew up in Dignowity Hill and attended Calvary Baptist Church. She was a lifeguard at Alto Frio Baptist Camp and in the aquacade at Lone Star Brewery.
Attending Brackenridge High School she was a Purple Jacket and a Cheerleader. She remained close with her school friends all the way back to elementary. These dear friends were still a part of her yearly trip to Sante Fe. Married Boyd Bradfield at 18 and raised two children, Kristy and Jay.
Her passion for plants and gardening started with their first home and continued to this day.
Weekends were spent at Lake LBJ building their home and water skiing with family and friends. She played tennis at Canyon Creek Country Club and was proud of her Level 1 status. Joyce's love for pottery began in 1973 at Southwest Craft Center and was ongoing creating a piece of public art for Arbol de la Vida at Mission Espada in 2019. Fishing, going to the beach and swimming in Rockport was a getaway she enjoyed. Their home there was a gathering place for extended family and friends.
Joyce was a Realtor and entrepreneur for 40 years founding one of the most successful real estate companies in central Texas. She loved real estate and showing off her hometown and continued working after selling Bradfield Properties with Kuper Sothebys.
Boyds involvement in the master planned community of Stone Oak was a source of pride and her home in Hollywood Park on the bluff overlooked the development.
She went to Israel with Rabbi Stahl and Buckner Fanning - a highlight of her life
Every week she enjoyed her Sunday School class with lifelong friends at Shearer Hills Baptist Church.
Joyce is survived by her children, Kristy Bradfield Petlin (Alan), Jay Bradfield (Suzi). She never stopped talking about her grandchildren who called her "Joyce", Kelly, Michelle, Kayla and Ali and missed dearly her grandson Jordan. Great grandchildren Peyton, Wesley and Lennon. Her sister in law, Bernie Bradfield and nieces and nephews on the Bradfield and Brown side. Each has a special place in her life

Although I just met Joyce about two years ago, we had an instant connection. We laughed that it was because we were Gemini twins with our birthday one day apart. I loved how sassy she was, how direct, and how much FUN she was. I told her how impressed I was with the career she built but what I really enjoyed was her love of life, the way she loved her family and the way she went about her life. What a legacy she has left. I´m sorry I didn´t get to meet her sooner.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved "Joyce". About 10 years ago Joyce told me "Sally, if someone asks you to go someplace or do something....go! Someday you won't be able to so enjoy it while you can." That made an impression on me and I think of her every time I get an invitation. I will truly miss her.

To know Joyce was to love her. I began my real estate sales career with her personally hiring me. I remember our interview as if it were yesterday. I could see her feet under the desk where she was seated and she was barefoot. I knew I wanted to work with her. As life took me another direction, we continued to communicate. She will be remembered by so many for her love of art, San Antonio, grandchildren, family, and real estate. Well done my friend.

I am heartbroken to find out that Joyce has moved on to her heavenly home. I have always admired this energetic and gracious woman, so devoted to her family, friends, work and art. She was a boss lady who dedicated her life to helping people and empowering so many others in their real estate career. Kristy, Jay and family...may your many memories with Joyce bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Sending you all love.

I am so sorry to read of Joyce's passing. What a dedicated, driven, woman she was, so successful in all she attemped. I knew Joyce in high school and later on the tennis court, where she beat me handily. She was a faithful member of Brackenridge Alumni group. Joyce and her friends are dear memories to me and she will be truly missed. My sympathy to her family.
