Katherine Dooley Obituary
Katherine (Kathi) Lynn Dooley (Gaga) entered eternal paradise December 9, 2017. She fought a long, hard and courageous battle against several heart and lung issues over the last sixteen years.
She was born March 22, 1953 at Wilford Hall on Lackland AFB in San Antonio to Charles and Henrietta Redepenning. Kathi is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Deacon Sean W. Dooley, her children Erin Dooley, Ian Dooley and his wife Krisna, her grandchildren whom she fiercely loved and adored; Destiny Reilly-Acuna, Trinity Casiano, Lorelei, Jovan and Ewan Dooley, her brothers Charles and Scott Redepenning, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. And her cat Charlee who kept her lap warm.
Kathi's 29-year career as a dental hygienist served 3 generations of many families at one location; Frank Bond DDS on Harry Wurzbach; until she retired in January 2010 to care for her ailing mother.
Kathi grew up as a military brat. One of her favorite 'duty' stations was as a teenager in Japan.
Kathi was an active parishioner for 37 years at St. Monica Catholic Church in Converse, Texas, having served in many ministries; Lector for twenty-four years, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for twenty years, successful chair for Archbishop's Appeal 4 years, Marriage Convalidation counselor 4 years, ACTS Core Communicator 6 years, co-director on several womens' teams and loved serving on many teen teams.
She served her many ministries with open arms, heart, ears and that smile, no one was a stranger. She was a nurturing, encouraging and giving sound advice to those who were hurting, even as Kathi was suffering, her persona masked her own illnesses. Kathi's vocation and mission field was people. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, niece, aunt and friend. Kathi was a child of God freely sharing His Love with everyone. She lit up a room whenever she entered, and people were drawn to her like a moth to a flame, the flame of Kathi's love. Kathi's favorite Scripture verses is from 1 Corinthians 13; this is how she lived and loved:
Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Amen!
Viewing/Rosary will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church 501 North Street, Converse, Texas 78109, beginning at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday December 13, 2017. The funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday December 14, 2017 at St. Monica Catholic Church, followed by a reception in Stuebben Hall behind the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Monica Catholic Church St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Kathi was such a loving person. She truly made me feel loved. She welcomed everyone into her arms.
I truly miss her. I met her in an exercise class about 20 years ago then we saw each other at church and were friends after that. She was such a sweet person. I still remember her here with us. Until we meet again.

Kathi was the first born of my older sister and "best friend". I guess it was only natural upon Henrietta's passing that she would refer to me as "mom-2", and I loved it.
I think the thing that most struck me as a "lost art" these days, was the time and love she showed and spent with all her grandchildren. She gave them each her undivided attention for a day, a weekend, a week and sometimes more. She so loved those little ones and always made time for them!!
Next to that, was the many ways Kathi gave of herself to her Church family. She was involved in so many groups!
Kathi generously opened her Port-A condo to her mom's sisters, her aunts, every year for a weekend getaway, rent free.
She enjoyed family and we enjoyed her!
She was so beautiful, and like her mother didn't complain.
We will all miss her so very much!

I knew Kathi for many years as my hygienist. She was super sweet and always interested in her patient's lives. I have kept up with her on FB but haven't seen or spoken with her for awhile. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. It was a joy to have know her.

I was so fortunate to share just a minor portion of Kathi's beautiful live. Sean, Erin, and Ian what a blessing she is to all of us. I have a million memories. Our deepest condolences. Kathi was a beautiful person to us. It didn't matter where she saw us, she would find her way to where we were and give us a hug. I mean a very sincerel hug. Deacon Sean and family...there are not enough words in our language to express how important Kathi was to us all. Her joyous love of the Lord was an example for us all..she truly was Christ in our midst. Thank you Deacon Sean, for sharing her with us. I will miss your infectious laugh at a family gathering and will be reminded of you whenever I hear one cry out. I will miss the acceptance that was a hallmark of your life and have a larger family because of it. I will miss your always positive outlook and can only hope to live up to a portion of it. My childhood starts with Kathi and her family. Erin was my best friend growing up. I too was a Brat, so Kathi knew what it was like to move around. She always made me feel welcome and at home, no matter where life had taken me. I will always remember her loving spirit, her smile that would light up a room, and her infectious laugh.
