LEANNE RIVERA Obituary

LeAnne was born on June 28, 1939 in Sheboygan, WI to Garthial and Helen Tetzlaff and went to her heavenly home on January 6, 2021 – her husband Daniel at her side. They met at Garfield Avenue Baptist Church in Milwaukee, WI where Daniel was a member and she was visiting, and married on June 15, 1957.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Merwyn Tetzlaff (Diane) of Sheboygan, three of her children – Garth Daniel (Rhonda) of So. Milwaukee, Grant Victor and Jeanna Marie of San Antonio, and her dear Wendy Sue, who became part of the family died suddenly at age 18 months.

She is survived by her husband Daniel C. Rivera, daughters Marina Carol of Colorado Springs, CO and Sabrina Nicole; and son Daniel James (Audrey) of San Antonio, sister Jereanne Durrow of Sheboygan, many grandchildren and their families, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

LeAnne was the quintessential wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Next to her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, the most joy she received was from her children whom she loved as babies and as they grew into adults. Her home and arms were open to many extended family children, who became temporary family members.

More than a woman of faith LeAnne committed her life to Jesus Christ while a teenager and served her Lord in every church to which she belonged – as Secretary, Nursery worker, cooking for the mid-week prayer service. Her cooking skills became known outside the church and she was hired as a Chef to plan, prepare and supervise meals for weddings, funerals, etc. She was often complimented, especially for her weekly Wisconsin fish fry. Of course, the Rivera Clan was at a distinct advantage and always wanted her recipes but often told her theirs did not taste as good as hers.

LeAnne had few hobbies but enjoyed listening to music – especially Country Western and Dean Martin. When her eyesight was better she enjoyed reading mysteries and visiting friends and family in WI and CO. Especially dear to her were her lady friends at Oak Ridge Baptist Church who met monthly for a meal and fellowship. She could talk for hours on the telephone or in person and loved being with others.

But the One she spoke to the most was her heavenly Father and her Savior Jesus Christ – she prayed several times a day just to speak with her Lord and thank Him for all He had done for her. Even with her physical ailments and sickness, her joy was in the Lord who she loved and is now at His feet in worship.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Friends are invited to view those arrangements on her obituary at www.missionparks.com.

For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 2Timothy 1:12
