Luz Dimas Salinas, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, entered into final rest on August 4, 2010, at the age of 71. She was a loving and devoted woman who inspired her family with her strength and generosity. She was born on May 30, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas. For the past twenty-seven years, she lived on her cherished ranch in Elmendorf where she cared for a variety of animals including her "pet" bass and catfish who would greet her at the edge of their pond for their daily feeding. Her great joys in life were her family, quilting, and traveling. She was a devoted church member and active volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She is preceded in death by her father Nicasio B. Dimas and sister Janie Gamez. She is survived by her husband Rosando Salinas, daughters Matilda Valdez and Terry Valdez, sons Joe Valdez and Frank Aguero, adopted son Rosendo Salinas III, grandchildren Jessica Lantz, Vanessa Lantz, Jeffrey Lantz, Kristen Lantz, Billy Lantz, Ricardo A. Munoz, Madison Spinks and husband Paul, Marissa Valdez, Megan Valdez, Bernadette Van Ness and husband Josh, Joey Valdez, Bianca Valdez, Nicasio Valdez, and Jonathon Valdez; great grandchildren, Jason Ortega, Jaylen Criollo, Jagger Criollo, Caleb Garcia, Hunter Sanchez, Lilliana Van Ness, Mark Valdez, Esmeralda Valdez, brothers Nicasio Dimas and Gilbert Dimas, sisters Cleo Kyle, Libby Clanton, and Linda Paisley, best friends and beloved sisters-in-law Rosario Rios and Mariana Teniente, and mother Luz Castillo. She will be greatly missed by her family.

SERVICES
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday August 7, at Brookehill Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday August 8, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 9, at El Carmen Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
