Major Olmstead Obituary
August 5, 1952 - May 17, 2024
Major John V. Olmstead, a man of exceptional character and dedication, passed away on May 17, 2024, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 71. Born on August 5, 1952, in Madison, WI, to proud parents Clarence and Rhea Olmstead.
John attended University of Wisconsin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and African American Studies. He then went on to serve his country in the Army Medical Service Corps. Throughout his military career, Major Olmstead was recognized for his exemplary service, earning numerous accolades including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
Major John V. Olmstead leaves behind a legacy of honor and service. His life was a testament to the values he held dear, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him. We celebrate the indelible mark he has left on the hearts and minds of his family and friends. Major Olmstead is survived by his wife Han Olmstead, daughter Marika Olmstead, his son Walter Olmstead, his grandson Jonah Olmstead, and his siblings Nancy and Clary Olmstead. His journey was one of purpose, passion, and unwavering dedication and he will be deeply missed.
Major John V Olmstead's services will be held at Porter Loring North on June 4, 2024, at 9am.
