Donna Olmstead Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 22, 2026.
Donna Lee Olmstead, 93, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. Born on April 5, 1932, in Charleston, West Virginia, Donna Lee was a dedicated mother and grandmother who dearly loved all her children and her Lord, Jesus Christ.

Donna was a hard worker who spent her early life as an LPN nurse working at the hospitals in Sarasota & St. Petersburg, the East Manor Nursing Home, as well as in the private care industry. She also worked as a waitress for a duration of time at the popular, nostalgic Lum's restaurant in Sarasota. Donna retired from Parker Hannifin in Sarasota after many years of dedicated service to their company. Donna was a loyal member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Sarasota #2756 for 27 years, from July 21, 1993 to May 31, 2020. She loved the friends she made there and considered them family.

Donna will be remembered for her laughter, smile, and joyful personality. "Well, hi!" followed by a hug was the usual way she would greet you. She was a true southern belle- never stepping foot out the door without her hair, nails, and face in place. She always smelled like rose perfume. She loved to dance, and she loved music. She also loved food. You could always find her at the buffet line. She loved those desserts even more. Her kids and grandkids would giggle nonstop when grandma would shuffle by with her loaded plate of cake and sweets. More than anything she loved her family. Until the end, she prayed daily for each and every one of us.

She is predeceased in death by her husband, Richard Olmstead, her father, William T. Stewart and Mother, Fannie B. Stewart, brother, William Stewart (Margret), brother Jimmy Stewart (Lois), brother Mitchell Stewart, Sister Beverly Weaver (Don).

She is survived by her sister Mary Cartwright (Zane) & and her children:

Her son Danny Allen Young (Carla), Grand Children Kelli Anne Camilleri (Steve), Rachel Dianne Preis (Brad), Danny Travis Young (Misty). Great-Grand Children Shayne Gail Chandler and Aaron Byrant. Great-Great-Grand Daughter Anaiah Amberlynn Thomas.

Son Joseph Arnold Young (Deborah), Grand Children Jennifer Greathouse (Joel), Jessica Jindra. Great-Grand Children Miranda Greathouse, Christian Greathouse, Alma Jindra, and Bryson Jindra. Predeceased by great grandson Nathan B Greathouse.

Son Dennis Gregg Young (Lorrie) Grand Children Joshua Young (Whitney), Allison Young. Great-Grand Children Layla, Bailee, and Scarlett.

Daughter Lora Dee Jackson (Roger), Grand Daughter Amanda Collins (Ben), Great-Grand Children Adeline Collins, Parker Collins, and Kelly Collins.

Daughter Agnes LeeAnn Albritton (John), Grand Children John Karl Albritton (Sarah), Jarrad Albritton (Caylie), Gavin Albritton, Gage Albritton, Mallory Albritton. Great-Grand Children John Larit Albritton, Layton Albritton, Collins Albritton, and Matilda Albritton.

We hope when Donna made her journey to heaven she stopped to stroll across the rainbow bridge and reunite with her beloved pets. Her parrot named Chipper, her lab also named Chipper, and her chihuahua, which was surprisingly named Ginger. Ginger was a fierce and loyal defender of Donna. We hope their reunion was a celebration and they had a lovely shuffle to that glorious buffet line.

Kindly join us as we honor her life, share stories, laughter, and a little sweetness in her memory.

A time of fellowship will follow with lunch and of course, plenty of desserts, just the way she liked it.
