Grace Marx

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Grace Marx on Feb 19th, 2026, at the age of 96. Grace passed away peacefully, and is preceded by her beloved husband, Chris Marx, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. Their bond of love, loyalty, and devotion to each other was extraordinary, and it will continue to inspire all who knew them.

They both lived a full and vibrant life exploring the world together, especially through their shared passion for traveling by cruise ship. Though they had no children, they treasured their family and lifelong friends. Their home was always filled with warmth, kindness, and laughter. She worked for 35 years at the Railroad Retirement Board where she met and married Chris.

Over the years, the circle of family and friends grew smaller, but their impact on the lives of those around them remains lasting. They enjoyed wearing fine clothes and eating at nice restaurants. They were generous with their resources and shared what they had with others.

They spent the last of their independent years at a community called Harbor Cove in North Port, FL, where they built a lovely home on the Myakka River overlooking a bird sanctuary with hundreds of nesting tropical birds. Grace's smile was inviting and sometimes mischievous, but always infectious. She loved spending time with her friends and family and always made everyone feel welcome. Please remember her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as Grace is laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11am.
