Wyers-Bollinger Funeral ChapelThomas "Tommy" D. Gentry - August 29,1960 - February 18, 2026
Thomas “Tommy” Gentry, a lifelong resident of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. Born on August 29, 1960, to Talmage and Connie (nee Bigham) Gentry. A proud graduate of Vermilion High School, Class of 1978, Tommy went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army for four years.
Tommy dedicated many years of hard work to Tuffy Auto Service in Lorain County. He had a true passion for cars and auto racing, especially enjoying time spent working in the pits. He was also a devoted Cleveland sports fan — cheering faithfully for the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Guardians. Tommy will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of telling jokes, and his ability to make others laugh. He enjoyed country music, especially during family gatherings when his dad and relatives played together. He treasured time spent with loved ones and his beloved dog, Kyla.
Above all, Tommy loved his family. He is survived by his daughter, Stacey of Lorain; his sons, Cory (Heidi) of Norwalk and Dustin of Elyria; and his cherished grandchildren, Alyssa, Ava, Austin, Anderson, Gabriella, and Ashlynn, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Debbie of Vermilion; his brother, Terry (Karen) of North Port, Florida; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge D. Gentry and Connie E. Lowe, and by his longtime girlfriend, Michelle “Shelly” Key.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Gospel Church on Saturday, March 7, 2026, 320 Aldrich Rd., Vermilion, OH 44089. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Military honors will be rendered prior to the service.
Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family at this time.
