Maria Lopez Obituary

July 11, 1907 - January 7, 2018
Maria de los Angeles (Gallegos) Lopez was born July 11, 1907, and was reported to have been one of the oldest living people in the South in July 2017, at 110. Maria was called to her eternal home January 7, 2018. Her last days here on earth were surrounded by family and friends. We thank God for the many memories, life lessons and great wisdom you imparted on each of us. We can consider ourselves truly blessed by God that He gave you to us for so long. You were honest, loving and had a tremendous faith in God. How many rosary beads did you wear out for all the petitions you were asked to pray for through the years? Through her life she devoted countless hours in service to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on the Southside. You saw so many things in your time from the first airplane to handheld telephones to cell phone to the development of penicillin to color photos and were amazed by the new technologies of "selfies". Each of us holds a small part of your heart within ours. No! God did not forget you were here. He was preparing the best room possible for such a faithful prayer warrior and servant. We will all miss your rich traditions, strong hugs, sweet smile, and you sharing your snacks and meals with us even if we had just eaten. You had a heart the size of Texas and we promise to continue your legacy of strong faith in God and a united family. Maria de los Angeles Lopez is survived by her only daughter, Rosemary G Galvan; grandchildren, Lisa (Gilbert) Apolinar, Col. Jesse David (Shelia) Galvan, Martie (Mark) Kokotajlo, Gabriel (Jackie) Galvan; and great-grandchildren, Anjelica and Belicia Apolinar, Nicole and Jesse (Jr.) Galvan, Christopher, Sara and Michael Kokotajlo and Gia, Sofia and Christian Galvan. We love you and will miss until we are reunited again."Decanse en Paz" Lita Grande! Services are as follows: Rosary 7 pm Sunday, January 14 ,2018 at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N General McMullen.
