Patrick Jacobi Obituary

Patrick "Pat" Edward Jacobi, 81, died peacefully Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at his home. Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Fort Worth. The Rev. Carl Szura will be the celebrant. Interment: private. Rosary: 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Pat was born Nov. 29, 1926, in San Antonio, son of the late Erhard Edward Jacobi and Marie Olga Henk Jacobi. He grew up in a small German neighborhood in San Antonio, in a home built by his father, near many of his relatives. Pat attended St. Gerard Catholic School. Upon high school graduation in 1944, Pat joined the U.S. Navy and served onboard the USS Nashville and the USS South Dakota. After completing his military service, Pat returned to San Antonio and began a long career in X-ray equipment sales and service, working for General Electric and Litton Industries and then as an independent contractor. Pat met Peggy Stoup in San Antonio, and they were married June 9, 1951, at Little Flower Shrine Catholic Church by Pat's uncle, Father Joseph Jacobi. Pat and Peggy moved to Fort Worth in 1952 and raised a family of five children. Pat was an avid fresh and saltwater fisherman. He enjoyed barbecuing for his family, gardening, bird watching, woodworking, watching sports and meeting his friends for lunch at the Paris Coffee Shop. Pat was a founding member of St. Andrew Catholic Parish and a lifelong member of the Sons of Hermann. Pat will be remembered for his commitment to his faith, his family and high moral standards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine, and her husband, Thomas Devine, of Corpus Christi. Survivors: His wife of 56 years, Peggy Stoup Jacobi; brother, Bennie and his wife, Nicki, of San Antonio; children, Cathy and her husband, Michael B. Campbell, of Jacksonville, Fla., Joe and his wife, Ellen, of Grand Prairie, Dr. John Jacobi and his wife, Martha, of Fort Worth, Mary Jane of Dallas and Jo Ann and her husband, Brett Tayman, of Davidsonville, Md.; grandchildren, Tégan Lee Campbell Presser and Brian, Kevin, Elizabeth and Laura Jacobi; great-grandchild, Gabriella; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
