Peter O'Connor Obituary

Dr. Peter D. O'Connor went to join his beloved wife of forty-six years, Patricia T. O'Connor and their Lord On May 22. Besides his wife, Dr. O'Connor is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mary O'Connor; step-mother, Kathryn Dean O'Connor and his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Janet O'Connor. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Hilaire Liegey of Huntington Station, NY; his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Kathleen O'Connor of Virginia Beach, VA; his daughter, Rindy O'Connor of Brooklyn, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Judith and David Buchen of South Pasadena, CA; daughter, Alison O'Connor of Ann Arbor, MI; son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Ana O'Connor of San Antonio; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jen O'Connor of Big Sky, MT; son Sean O'Connor of Breadenton, FL; grandchildren Alex, Crystal, Abigail, Benjamin, Daniel, Chelsea and Tracen; and dozens of nieces and nephews. Dr. O'Connor, a professor of English at the State University of New York, College at Oswego, came to San Antonio to be the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Incarnate Word College (IWC), now the University of the Incarnate Word. After his tenure at IWC, Dr. O'Connor was named President of Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI. He then moved back to his roots in the New York area to be Dean at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkhill, NY where he retired as Professor Emeritus. In August of 2006 he returned to San Antonio to be with family after the death of his wife, Patricia.For service times please contact the funeral home at (210) 653-3930.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of the Incarnate Word.To send a note of condolence to the family please go to www.rivercityfuneralhome.com.
