I grew up down the street from the Sqillas in Shavano Park. We were friends with the children of Mr. and Mrs. Squilla, and they were the nicest couple and family, leaving me with wonderful memories. Mr. Squilla, rest in peace. You will be missed.

I miss him greatly. He was always so kind and had the best sense of humor. I always got hear how great the kids and grandkids were doing. He lived a great life and I know he would not have changed a single moment. My love to all and I will pray for each you.I know you realize how blessed you are to have had him in your lives.

March 6, 2016

My condolences to the Squilla family.
Apart from our immediate family they were the first family that I ever experienced the "spend the night" phenomena in San Antonio in 7th grade. They were really cool, feeling like another family of mine.
I was fortunate to make car trips with the family.
Dick was my baseball coach in CYO, where I received subtle hints from this wise man that this was not going to be my life's calling, so I just became a surgeon.
While I have not seen or spoken with this beautiful family in over 35 years, I confess my intimacy and respect for the love given
Thank you Dick you enriched my life
Best to the famglia

Marie, our deepest sympathy to you and your children. Whenever you and Dick were in Scranton while we were there I enjoyed so much talking to him. He was always so kind and friendly. I still fondly remember him telling me stories of his minor league baseball days, and visiting with both of you with Mom and Dad while I was in the Air Force and living in San Antonio. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Aunt Marie and family;
Very sorry to hear of Uncle Dick's passing. Although I am many miles away the both of you are always in my heart. I enjoyed coming back to Scranton when you both were visiting and I would plan my trip in to make sure I would see both of you. Uncle Dick always greeted me with a smile and a long hug, never had a bad thing to say, treated me with respect and I loved him very much as I do you Aunt Marie. You opened your hearts and home to me many years ago and I never forgot it. I wish I had the words to express my sorrow, all I can say is I loved him, both of you. I thanked him in my prayers already for being the kind man that he was. God bless all. I love you Aunt Marie, always will. Richie Gavin

Dear Aunt Marie and family;

I was so very sad to hear of Uncle Dick's passing. Although we are so far apart you both are never far from my heart. Your kindness and love that was given to me when I was in the Air Force has never left my heart. I always planned my visits to Scranton when I knew you both were in. Uncle Dick was a fine man, kind, generous and loving. He never had a bad thing to say to me about anything, always treated me with respect and greeted me with a smile and an open heart. With his passing I lost another bit of my heart. I wish I had the words to say how I really feel. I hope its enough to say I loved him as I do you Aunt Marie. God bless all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have already thanked him for touching my heart over the years, both of you. Thank you Uncle Dick, I miss you already.

Bless you, Uncle Richard - and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest! So many sweet memories flood my mind from days past: so much goofy laughter and love...you and "The Joe" and Bobbie, grandma and grandpa... Aunt Marie, Geri Anne, Mia, Joey and Richie. Time and distance intervened, but those moments still live inside me, as will your memory, always. Your presence in my father's final days was a mighty port in a terrible storm.
My thoughts, prayers and support go out to the Texas Squillas for whom this fine man was the center of the universe.
Uncle Richie was a truly unique character.
Much love,
Lynne

And yes, Mr. Squilla, I am still at Alamo Title!!

We are saddened to learn of Mr. Squilla's passing. I can still remember those Christmas dinners at our home when the entire street came over for tamales, all of 5 families. Children at the time, we loved playing with your family and just spending time together. We will miss his genuine kind heart, radiant smile and gentle soul. May God give you strength during this time and may your memories comfort you all.

Marie and family, our condolences go out to all of you. May you have the strength and courage needed to get through this difficult time. We are so saddened to have lost such a dear friend. Dick will be greatly missed. What a tribute as to how a life should be lived. Dick's sense of humor, wit, and caring friendliness was all inclusive. Dick welcomed with hugs and kisses and left everyone feeling good after visiting. We enjoyed so many delightful monthly couples dinners with friends together. He was a proud family man telling wonderful stories of his children and grandchildren and sharing their pictures along with Marie. His outreach to The Lion's Club was selfless. Dick was a magnificent man that brought joy to others. May peace be with you in God's Love. Hugs! Marilyn and Rick
