Robert de la Garza Obituary
Robert de la Garza, born on May 30, 1951 in Laredo, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Minerva N. de la Garza, his father, Carlos B. de la Garza and his brother, Daniel de la Garza. He is survived by his brothers, Carlos A. de la Garza Jr., Raul R. de la Garza and his sister Elisa Cole; also by numerous nephews, nieces, their extended families and many friends.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1969 and shortly after, began his illustrious career in law enforcement. Robert, also known as "Bobby" to those closest to him, served in the Balcones Heights Police Department for 37 years, dedicating his life to the community. During his tenure, he served as a Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Detective, Assistant Chief of Police and Interim Chief of Police, along with many other varying assignments.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM at Cremation San Antonio, 1830 S. Presa, San Antonio, Texas, 78210. A memorial to honor Robert's life and reception details will be announced at a later date.

Bobby you and I had a blast working as patrol officers with the Leon Valley police department, you were the brother I never had ,you will always be missed and never forgotten.. Rest in peace my brother.

Rest in peace my friend and partner in CID!! So many memories!! I'll never forget you! Balcones Heights will never be the same without you! Your suffering has ended my friend and now you are with the Lord!
