Robert "Bob" Erle Wehmeyer, Jr, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 19, 2021.
He was the devoted husband of Jeanie, the adoring father of Bobby and Katherine, and the proud grandfather of Jack, Chase and Blake Hollimon.
Bob loved people and jumped at every occasion to interact with his family and friends. He was genuinely interested in getting to know every stranger he met, and he would remember all the details shared with him. His greatest thrill was watching his kids and grandkids grow.
Bob was born in Robstown, Texas on December 15, 1946 to loving parents, Eva Mae and Bob. They lived on a farm outside of Mathis, Texas, where they raised Black Angus cattle, grew cotton, and learned the value of hard work. He and his sister, Jeanne, were surrounded by many cousins, aunts, and uncles who together learned the importance of family. Bob gave his life to Christ and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Mathis; his faith remained central to his life.
After graduating from Mathis High School, Bob attended the University of Texas at Austin School of Business and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He graduated with a BBA in the Honors Program of Studies in 1969 and went on to earn his JD from the University of Texas School of Law in 1971.
Bob then moved to San Antonio where he began work in law and soon met the love of his life, Jeanie, whom he married in 1974. Bob practiced law for more than thirty years with the firms of Groce, Locke & Hebdon and Baucum Steed Barker. More recently, he spent fifteen years at Jefferson Bank, where he served as Division President, Jefferson Bank Trust.
Bob was a devout member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, a Past President of the Order of the Alamo, a member of the San Antonio Country Club, the Conopus Club, the Texas Cavaliers, and the San Antonio German Club. Philanthropically, Bob had served as president of the board at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, president of the board of Friends of McNay, and on the board of Morningside Ministries.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Mae and Bob Wehmeyer and his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Moses and Tom Fitch. Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanie Wehmeyer; his children, Bobby Wehmeyer and Katherine Hollimon (Charley); his grandsons, Jack, Chase, and Blake Hollimon; his sister, Jeanne Moses; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
