Sharon Turner Obituary
Sharon Delores Martin Turner peacefully passed away, surrounded by her children, on December 23, 2018.
She was born in Concord, California on May 1, 1944, where her father was stationed during WWII, but she grew up in San Antonio, graduating from Lee High School, spending a semester at the University of Hawaii, and then finishing her education at Trinity University. She married her lifelong friend and neighbor, Harvey Jordan Turner, Jr. on April 12, 1963.
She touched hundreds of lives as a beloved Theater Arts teacher and cheerleading coach at Castle Hills First Baptist School, through her involvement in church, and in her commitment to her community and family.
Throughout the years, she was involved in the American Cancer Society, the Junior Forum, Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts, the San Antonio Symphony, San Antonio Fiesta as an award-winning float designer and builder, and the Poetry Society of Texas, which awarded her with the Hilton Ross Greer Service Award in 2017. Her creativity was truly boundless, as was her generosity, and her faith was unwavering.
She was welcomed to Heaven by her parents, David and Mary Martin, her precious husband Harvey, and a host of loving friends and relatives. She is survived by her children, Harvey Jordan (Trey) III and Diana Turner, Todd and Colleen Turner, Tammie Turner, and Trey and Angela Rabke; her grandchildren, Joshua Williams, Hannah and Sarah Turner, and Cypress, Meriwether, and Storey Rabke; her sisters, Valerie Martin Bailey and Mary Delight Greenwell; her brother and sister in-law, David and Krista Turner; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation and viewing for family will be held on Friday, December 28th beginning at 10:00 AM at Porter Loring North Chapel.

Sharon always seemed to put her Christianity to work for her family, faith and friends. I enjoyed knowing her and attending family events, where she was a most gracious hostess. She leaves a legacy for her children and others who knew her.

It was a delight to know Sharon. Harvey and my Dad, Guy Hughes, were longtime friends. Sharon helped with the decorations of our daughter Chelsea's wedding. She supported our church from her hospital bed by purchasing a watercolor I donated for our fundraiser. She was a wonderful person and we will miss her love and kindness. Prayers for your family as you lay her to rest.
