Thomas Cody Obituary
Thomas Edmund Cody, 62, was born on April 19, 1955 in San Antonio to Edmund and Carlta Cody. He received his B.B.A. from Texas A&I University and, at age 40, his Master's Degree in Education.
By fate, he met his bride, Sally Shackelford, and they married on March 19, 1983. Together, they raised two children, Travis and Casey. Beyond his immediate family, Tom impacted hundreds of children as a teacher in NISD and Vice Principal in Harlandale ISD. Tom enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, raising chickens, and could build anything. Forever pursuing his interests, Tom wrote books, built a canoe, leather-crafted and tied flies. Tom was truly a self-taught renaissance man. Listening to the Hillbilly Hit Parade radio show with Travis, loudly cheering for Casey at volleyball games, and watching the Aggies and Spurs with Ed are cherished memories. Tom's creativity, humor, and his tender heart continue to shine through his wife Sally Cody, his children Travis Cody (Nicole), Casey Cody Flournoy (Nick), his grandchildren, and his siblings Carl Cody (Cathi) and Lynne Cody Rector (Jim).

Tom was a great person and I taught with him at Hobby Middle School
and we became friends. Always enjoyed talking with Tom and respected the kind of teacher and person he was. I am sorry for your loss and you and your family are in our prayers.

Mrs. Cody, I am so, so saddened to hear about Mr. Cody. I know that nothing I can say will take away the pain you and Travis and Casey are feeling. He loved you guys so much and was so proud of you all. I am so blessed to have known him! Just thinking of him now three words come to mind...funny, kind and caring. Did you know he was the bestest singer, too? I guess you do. And the bestest boss, ever! You will always be in my heart and my prayers. Whenever you want to smile (I know I will be doing this), just say, Mr. Cody (you say Tom)..."It was raining hard in 'Frisco, I needed one more fare to make my night..." he'll come in with the second verse.
