Travis M. "T.M." Fleming Sr.

Travis Fleming Obituary

Travis M. (T.M.) Fleming, Sr., retired Southwestern Bell Telephone Company employee, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2002. He had lived a good and full life for 95 years with his family and friends. Dad was born on January 2, 1907, in Seguin, TX at home, the oldest of eight children of Clifton Fleming and Mildred (Moss) Fleming. In 1925, he went to work for "MA Bell" in San Antonio and retired in 1972 with over 46 years of service as Buildings & Supplies Superintendent. After his retirement, he and Mom lived on Lake LBJ outside of Marble Falls, TX for many years before moving to Heatherwilde Assisted Living in Pflugerville, TX. They were married in 1928 and celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on October 5, 2001. During his life he enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends as well as fishing and gardening at the lake. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Austin, TX and a Mason in the Army Post Lodge in San Antonio. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Lee (Thompson) Fleming; daughter, Peggy Lee (Fleming) Sismilich of Austin; son, T.M. Fleming, Jr. and his wife Carol of San Antonio; four grandchildren, David Sismilich of Austin, Barbara (Sismilich) Crane of Sugarland, Todd Fleming of San Antonio and Elizabeth (Fleming) Willhoite of the Chicago area; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Matthies of Seguin; brother, Joe Fleming and wife Helen of Seguin; sister-in-law, Bernice (Elley) Fleming of Seguin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as Pallbearers are David Sismilich, Todd Fleming, Kelly Crane, Brian Willhoite, Clifton "Skippy" Matthies and Zan Matthies. The family wishes to thank all the staff of the Heatherwilde Assisted Living facility and Lonestar Hospice for their care and services. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to either Heatherwilde Assisted Living, 401 S. Heatherwilde Boulevard, Pflugerville, TX 78660 or Lonestar Hospice, 1212 Palm Valley Boulevard, Round Rock, TX 78664 or the charity of your choice. Funeral Services will be at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home in Kingsland, TX at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 with the Rev. Larry Lacy officiating and Dorothy Johnson assisting. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Service and later at their home on the lake. Interment will follow immediately after the Service at the Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
