The family of Wayne Steven Curtis is very saddened to announce that Wayne passed away, at home, surrounded by his family, on April 21, 2022 at the age of 70.
Wayne was born on March 14, 1952 to Charles and Lorraine Curtis, both of whom preceded him in death. Wayne grew up in Tyler, TX. At the age of 15, while attending Robert E. Lee High school, he met his future wife Pam McDowell. After graduating from high school, Wayne and Pam both moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas where Wayne got his BBA. He was elected president of the Real Estate Society there and was a very active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
In 1974, Wayne graduated from UT Austin and began his career as a real estate broker and later developer. Throughout his almost 50 years in commercial real estate he brokered and developed many large deals in San Antonio that would forever change the landscape of the city.
Apart from real estate, Wayne conquered many other challenges. He was an eagle scout, a certified scuba instructor, a licensed pilot, and a proud member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.
From the day of his marriage to Pam until his death, Wayne called Pam his "bride". He first saw Pam in Speech class and said she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen and because he "dared to dream" they were able to create a beautiful life together. Wayne always said that he was the luckiest man in the world when thinking about his wife, children, and grandchildren and that life only got better with time.
Wayne leaves behind his beloved wife, Pam; his children who he was so proud of: Ryan Curtis(Bia), Mehren Sondergaard(Bryan), Jeffrey Curtis(Pam); and his seven cherished grandchildren: Hailey, Asher, Cooper, Coryn, Charley, Cade, and Shane. His grandchildren adoringly called him G.D., short for granddad.
The family is hosting a celebration of life at the Canyon Springs Golf Club, located at 24405 Wilderness Oak, San Antonio, TX 78260 on Saturday, April 30th 2022, where we will have a service officiated by Father Chuck Woehler from 1:30-2:00pm, followed by a reception from 2:00-4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that people donate to the charity of their choice, or in the spirit of Wayne, spread the love and do one random act of kindness for each of his 70 years.
