Sheldon Carman Obituary

Sheldon "Shelly" Sherman Carman was born June 14, 1941, to Sheldon Carman and Ruth Kimbrel in Susanville California. He passed peacefully in his home September 5, 2024
Shelly graduated in Susanville, California from Lassen High School in 1959. Through his talent and love for horses he went on to manage Mission Vineyard Ranch in San Juan Bautista in 1960 and then continued to manage when the ranch moved and was renamed Shirlaway Farms in Clovis California. Getting out of the horse business Shelly started driving trucks in 1970 and then purchased his own truck in 1972 and had a very successful business for over 30 years. Shelly was an avid outdoorsman.

He married the love of his life Dianne Frey in San Juan Bautista on February 23, 1974. They had a beautiful life with many adventures.

He is survived by his wife Dianne Carman, his children; Brent Carman, Renee Carman, Shannon (Joe) Anderson, grandchildren; Shelby Anderson, McKenzie Hill, Robert Bublitz, great-grandchildren; Avery Hill and Hatcher Hill, his brother Robert Padilla, his nieces'; Shellie Torrence and Terry Armer. He is preceded in death by his sister Frances (Carman) Armer, his daughters Shirley Rae Carman and Sabrina (Carman) Bublitz.

Robert Padilla's kind thoughts:
Growing up without a father I consider Shelly my older brother who taught me all the good things about being a man and a dedicated father. I worked with Shelly as a ranch hand on the Mission Vineyards ranch from the age of 12 to 18 years old. I view Shelly as a hard-working man who cared deeply about his family, close friends and doing a good job at whatever job he had. He loves to laugh, have a beer or beers and listen to others share their stories and funny experiences. I hold dearly the values and principles he taught me growing up. My own life has been more fulfilling because of the lessons he demonstrated to me. We remained very close to this day. I will miss him dearly and always referred to him as my older brother Shelly.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Reyna Martinez the caregiver that helped Shelly in his last days.

Per Shelly's wishes he's being cremated and there are no services planned at this time.
