Carlos was a great friend of mine, we lived across the street from each other on Mowhawk St. Carlos taught me about football and sports, he was my first hero. He was 4 years older than me but I idolized him, his lanky moves, that devilish smile of his and we shared a love for the Dallas Cowboys and that was alot of fun. I will miss him forever, I remember the first time I saw him after years of not, we embraced and hugged and that is a memory that I will cherish. I love you Carlos, see you on the other side my brother.

I was a Football & Track Team Mate of Carlos @ Helix back in the Early 80's. Carlos, Renato, Jack, Mark, Karl, Craig, Paul E., Paul S, Allan, and Myself all hung out during our High School Days. I was saddened to hear that Carlos passed away. I did not know and I recently found out from a very close friend. The entire Manzano Family sends our blessing to the Hernandez Family. Carlos, you will always be in our Hearts & Memories! I wish I would have known about the Services! God Bless the Hernandez Family! Anthony, Angela, Danielle, Antonio, & Alyssa Manzano.

Dear Lisa and family: I went to Helix with Carlos and I'm a friend of Jack and Lisa Marie's. I remember Carlos' great sense of humor and even-tempered personality. He was such a great person. There's no doubt he must have felt very blessed having such a loving family and supportive group of friends -- it's no wonder he was able to continue his fight for so many years.
Sincerely,
Crissey Lewis

I didn't know Carlos personally, but know his sister-in-law, Vicki Hayden. My deepest sympathy to Lisa, Anthony, and Alyssa, and all of the family. May Carlos rest in peace. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope you can find some peace and comfort in your good memories of Carlos.

I was a teammate with Carlos at Helix. Carlos was one of the funniest people I have ever met and he taught me to laugh at myself. I was always very fond of him as both a teammate and friend. He always had an electric smile on his face. Carlos, Jack and Renato always had me laughing even when I didn't want to. I just couldn't get mad at any of them. I know all the coaches and other teammates will never forget Carlos. My family and I send our sincere condolences to the Hernandez family and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

I knew Carlos when he was born but I always called him "Little Charlie"..since everyone called his dad Charlie....I was his GodMother...but unfortunately when he was around seven years old I moved to Los Angeles...and he grew and I did not get to see that time of his life..Or his marriage to Lisa and their children...But I can say that he was a great kid and cute as cute could be....I loved baby sitting for him and his sisters....What a great man he turned out to be....My love to Flo and Lisa, Anthony and Alyssa

The strength and pure determination to fight and to live in order to be able to love and care for his family as much as he could for all the years Carlos lived with the extremely formidable health challenges is a testament to the remarkable man Carlos Hernandez was.
My heart, sincere sympathy and prayers go out to Carlos’s wife Lisa and their children during this time of healing. Personally I have never known a stronger family who have been so resilient and bonded together with pure love and unending determination to do all they could to allow Carlos to live his life as full and as long as possible.
