Clay Jennings Obituary

Our brother Clay, 65, was born into eternal life, on December 14, 2023 in Escondido, CA.
Clay was the fifth Jennings born at Mercy hospital in San Diego on April 5, 1958 to Charley and Zuma Rose Jennings.
He went to school at Harbison Canyon and Julian. He played football at Julian High and was very active in 4-H and Future Farmers of America, where, along with all his eight brothers and sisters, he raised and showed sheep.
When he was through with high school, he spent his career driving a lumber truck for the family business, J&W Lumber. This afforded him the luxury to stop and visit friends and relatives whenever he was making deliveries in the neighborhood.
Clay was married to Teresa Richardson, and they had a beautiful daughter, Suzannah. His greatest passion was his family, his friends, the annual Jennings Family picnic, blue grass music, all things John Wayne, first responders and all of those who have served in the military and his country.
He made regular visits to check in on his friends at Grand Villa and Pacific Senior living and many local businesses, including the Baker family of Printing Solutions. He spent many a Sunday watching football with the Bakers and rooting for his San Francisco 49ers. In the day he was a regular at the Wranglers Roost and Pomerado Club. Clay never missed a party, a parade or any family gathering. He was a strong supporter of Toys for Tots and all organizations that benefited children and the underserved.
Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Zuma Jennings and stepmother, Jacquie Jennings, and his beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his daughter Suzanne and her mother, Theresa Richardson. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Claudia Jennings Lima and husband John Lima, Arcata, CA; Clyde and wife Lynette Jennings, Escondido, CA; Corinne Jennings Collins and husband Jim Collins, Chesterfield, Missouri; Charlynn Jennings, Escondido CA; Charmaine Jennings, Escondido, CA; Craig and Patrice Jennings, Westplains, Missouri; Cara Jennings, Escondido, CA; Carlton and Tamrah Jennings, Vista, CA; Richard and Pia Young and Sandra and John Stodart, from Perth, Australia.
Also survived by nieces and nephews: Christopher Lima, Charley and Rozalyn Jennings, William Collins, Rebeca Bader, Mike and Denise Robinson, Monica and Emmit Cox, Kelly and Brian Jennings, Michaela Bulkley and Jordon and McKenna Winns Evan and Janelle Bulkley, Andrew Stodart, Georgia Young, and great-nieces and nephews Michael and Madison Robinson, Eero and Lochan Cox, Levi and Nora Bader, Everett Winn and Serra Buckley, his many cousins that he loved dearly, and his very special friend Eileen Adams, and lifetime friend Jessie Grijalva.
Funeral mass will be at Parish Church of Saint Timothy, 2960 Canyon Road Escondido, CA, on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Followed by a Celebration of Life at The Barn at CJ Lumber, 1179 West Washington, Escondido, CA.
Burial will be Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Holy Cross Cemetery, San Diego.

The Jennings family has my prayers, my condolences and love. He is gone too soon for sure.

Clay left a legacy of love and doing good to all who knew him. He had a heart of gold as big as Texas.I know there is a huge welcoming celebration in Heaven.

You know I've been told God puts people in your life for a reason and/or a season...I was his neighbor we lived in the same building..he was always so pleasant to me...he had this Awesome big pick up gray truck..every Holiday season and other Holidays thur the year Clay would put a remembrance of some kind on the very front of that truck...so the reason...was to enjoy his friendship...and the season..was to have God put us as neighbors in the same building and to have know him....

My heart and condolences for all family at this time. Clay was always such a nice man that came into our family. We had so much fun at Marshall Scotty's and Bates Brothers Nut Farm. I'm thinking he entered into heaven with a very smooth two step.
