The most I was around Ernie was the summer I spent in San Diego the summer I turned 16. Dennis was at Camp Pendleton. We played lots of cards with Ern and Phyllis. Lots of fun.

I have wonderful memories with my Papa, from making the best cookies and pancakes to watching the padres from behind home plate. He is loved by many and will be missed very much. I love you Papa.

Grace was lucky to have her Papa as her date for the Father daughter dances at school! Ernie was honored and proud to take Grace and always treated her like a princess ❤ . Their bond was so very special and I’m so thankful he was in her life

Ernie was truly one of a kind, he accepted all of us as if we were his own children and grandchildren. He was kind, giving, smart, patient and funny and I feel blessed to have had him as a Step-Father and even more blessed to have had him as the only Grandfather Grace ever knew.

The best friend & cousin I ever had. My life in San Diego 1965/1991 holds my most cherished memories because of Ernie. He was always there & I can’t ever remember us having a fight, we Loved each other to much. After Vietnam I needed someone so much & Ernie was always there. One of a kind, they broke the mold!

Ernie and I worked together over twenty years. He graciously opened his home to my family (including the cat and bird) when we were evacuated during the 2006 fires. He was such a kind man who would bend over backwards to help someone. He will be missed. ❤

My brother, my friend. I miss him so much. From the time I was a little girl I have memories of his warmth and generosity. He was the best “big” brother. A hug from him would envelope you in love. He was so loved by my children and grandchildren, who remember him as a huge part of our family. Life will not be the same without him here.

My father was an amazing man who loved and was loved by so many people. When he coached the many softball teams with my Mom, he treated all of his “softball girls” as if they were truly his own daughters, he loved and cared for all of us. He enjoyed building with his hands. He built log cabins with Grandpa, did stained glass, woodworking, gardening and much more. I will always cherish the memories of playing games with him, fishing, Padre games, Colorado trips, the heart to heart talks as I was growing up, the many lifetime experiences he shared and so much more. I will always remember the support and genuine love he gave to me and a man that was happy, loved his family deeply and gave the best hugs. Daddy’s Little Girl (Carla)
