Jerry Goss Obituary

Jerry Lee Goss passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Dubbed the "Energizer Bunny" by his offspring, Jerry fought against his condition by diligently managing his own affairs.
Jerry was born on May 1,1927 to Fred G. and Florence R. Goss. An only child, he often recalled the special relationship he shared with his mother during his formative years, when he attended Grant Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from San Diego High. After earning his degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Jerry joined the Navy at the end of WW2 for a brief time. He then returned to Stanford to earn his MBA, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
On a blind date in 1953, Jerry met and later married his first wife, Alice (Dede) Robinson. Together they bought what is now known as "Villa Orizaba" in Mission Hills. Dede passed away suddenly in 1977, leaving Jerry with three teenage daughters to finish raising.
Later in life, he married Mary A. Berray, who had recently been widowed. Upon his retirement, Jerry and Mary traveled extensively. Mary passed in 2012, leaving Jerry alone for the last ten years of his life.
While Jerry had three careers over the course of his life, he favored recounting experiences as Vice President of Electrical Supplies Distributing Co. He was a member of the San Diego Rotary and was active in politics in the 1960's.
Jerry is survived by daughters Robin Kishbaugh (Wayne) of Albuquerque, NM, Penelope Goss, Abigail Goss and Emily Waring, all of San Diego, as well as a son, Michael Goss (Nancie) of Valley Center, 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael, California.
