John Thomas Jack' Fletcher March 9, 1930 - February 14, 2017 San Diego Jack Fletcher passed away peacefully at his home in San Diego, CA, at age 86. He was a loving husband, a sailor, adventurer, artist, and a renaissance man.Jack was born in Seattle to Ona and James Fletcher. He grew up in the Madrona neighborhood and attended Garfield High School. While at Garfield, Jack played the trumpet and was given the nickname Satchmo by his friends.His college years were spent at the University of Washington, where he rowed varsity crew and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduation, Jack married Patricia Giffen, had two sons, and started an insurance brokerage firm with his brother Robert.In 1969 Jack and his family departed Seattle on an Epic Sailing Adventure. After four years of sailing, Jack and family returned to the USA and took up residence in San Diego.Jack and Patricia traveled extensively around the world until her passing in 1991. Jack married Nancy Taft in 1998 and they have lived happily in San Diego.He loved classical music, the San Diego Symphony, and was a longtime member of the San Diego Master Chorale. He also loved fly fishing, reading, and painting.Jack is survived by his wife Nancy, sons James (Dana) and John (Katie), grandsons Joel (Liz) and Charles, and great-granddaughter London.At his request there will be no funeral services.
