Lane Carroll Obituary

CARROLL, LANE LeROY II Lane loved to play soccer, make it from first to third on a single, sink a putt, go anywhere, and lift a glass with friends. A recently diagnosed esophageal cancer claimed him on February 20, 2009. He was 64. Lane joins his father (also Lane Carroll) and grandson Aidan, who both also passed too soon. He leaves an extended family including his mother, Viola Carroll; brother, Robert Carroll; sister, Christine Wellnitz and her daughter, Alicia; children Aaron, Bethany, Pam, and Matthew; his four grandgirls; the Woods, Camps, and Cooks; many friends; the Scripps Ranch Old Pros; and his wife, Phoebe, who loves him most of all. We will Celebrate his life in Hoyt Park (Aviary and Canyonlake in Scripps Ranch) between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., on Sunday, March 1, 2009.

Lane's gentleness and calmness made us all aware how life does not need to be so uptight and serious, he accepted us all and in his quiet way made us feel special. We so enjoyed the times spent with him, always will remember how he went out in the cold snowy weather to get us dessert when we spent time in Utah at your timeshare - the great dinner you prepared, the laughter has always been remembered and always will.

Dear Phoebe: I know only too well how devastated you are right now and you are in my thoughts and prayers constantly. Lane was a very special person and he has joined both Steves on the other side of the curtain. If you ever need to talk, Elize will give you my phone number. All my love to you and your family.

Lane was uniquely Lane. A quiet strength that will be missed by many. Your friend, your love. Words can't express how we morn his loss with you. Know you are loved.

Phoebe, know that you're in our thoughts and prayers. During this time of acceptance and adjustment, may your and our wonderful memories of Lane replace the pain we all feel for his passing.
