Margie, Marlene,Yvonne,Patty, Corine and Family,
I was very saddened when I heard Pat had passed, but I know he gave it all he had with his illness. I was blessed to know him and have all of you as our friends.
I will always cherish our times together, Camping, watching each others kids when the guys were out of town working. I know my girls will always remember him and the great times we had at your house. The great tortillas you made and during the winter time having us come over for a hot bowl of soup.
His Memorial Service was just a reflection of the MAN he was and how Pat touched so many lives. And mine included.
While attending Pat's Memorial Service
I forgot to tell the story of how he saved a Marines life. It happened when Chayo and Pat would travel to San Pedro Port to find work. They noticed the car in front of them kept swerving on the road. The car finally went off the road and caught fire. Pat was in there to pull one of them out. And in doing so burned his hands. "He is truly a hero" in all senses.
I"m ever so grateful to have had Pat and you Margie, in our lives, and also as a lifelong friend.
I know our Lord has embraced him and has welcomed him with open arms to his Kingdom. And I know he will embrace you and your family too.
Love you all,
Andrea Colmenero & Family

Margie, Girls & Family ~
We will all miss "Fat Dog" as he was always larger than life to us girls. His booming voice & his hearty laugh. Each of us girls has our own fond memories of him. Remember the weekend we all got stuck over in Victoria?
He loved the 3 of us like we were his own.
We feel great sadness with his loss. Our parents are so glad that they had time with both of of you last year when you came to San Diego.
Margie, girls and family ...
You will always be in our prayers.
With Much Love,
The Colmenero Girls,

Margie and Girls - My sisters (Vivian and Maria) and pop (Chayo) send our condolences and love to you all. My mother was blessed to be able to join you for the services. She wouldnt have lived with herself had she not made the trip up to Tacoma to be with the family. My father sends his love to all of you. We all have fond memories that we share with the Goodens and the Colmenero's in El Cajon & Tacoma. Our Longshore/ILWU Local #29 family will forever be tied together. I will never forget our family trip to Victoria, stranded on the Fairy, we rented a motel room - Dad and Pat slept in the car that night while the girls slept safe & sound in the motel! Until Margie took a bath! ha! Those were the days......Love you all - May God Bless youl!

Margie and Girls,
I am very sorry for you loss. When my mother called and told me the news, I started to cry and think of the great times we had has children with your Family. Reading about your family brings back joy and happiness and remembering all the fun times when you lived in El Cajon. I can remember staying there for a least a week at a time and riding the bus to El Cajon from San Diego with Tio Alfredo and my sisters. Pat was a good father. My sister Amapola is right about Pat being there for his daughters. I remember the fired squid and the funny jokes Pat would tell at the table. He was always jolly and fun. I am very grateful for the wonderful memories from my childhood with the Family. I am happy that he was able to live life with (6) grandchildren and (3) great grandchildren. That alone says a lot about your family. Pat had the honor of being Tata and what a wonderful Tata and Father. You girls are so lucky to have him and your mom always by your side. No he is in heaven with them all Tata Moreno, Nanita, Tia Poly, Tio Alfredo, playing cards, telling jokes and cooking and eating good food. We will all be together again when the time comes and I am sure of that. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love,

Margie and daughters, I'm so sorry to hear of Pat's departure, what a great Husband, Father, and Tata he was. It's been 35 years since I was that 10 year old skinny shy little girl that I remember the happy times at your El Cajon house with Yvonne, Patty, and Corinne. My mom Carolina always had to hear us kids (Theresa, Dolores, Pola) say “let’s go to Pat & Margie’s house” always looking forward to visiting her cousin and sharing old stories when they were young. Pat was always there for his girls, making sure they had everything they needed. It was at the El Cajon house that Pat encouraged me that scrawny girl with no bike to jump on the little two wheeler and ride without training wheels, and that’s where I learned to ride a bicycle. I always admired the girls having something everyday that was absent from myself and my sisters, a DAD. The provider, warrior, counselor, safety net, and loving Tata to his grandchildren. I am thinking about you, my heart and prayers go out to all the people that Pat left behind. I know it’s difficult but he’ll always be there for his family and friends, you’ll see.
God’s Blessing, Love and Comfort to all.

What courage it took for you and my Dad to pick up roots and move our entire families up to the North West from San Diego back in 1977. It is because of the two of you and your incredible work ethic, friendly personality's and veteran Longshore experience that my brother and I enjoy the lifestyle that we do. My Tata, my Dad and you Pat, were the motivation for our Longshore careers. You set the bar high and expected Bubba and I to overcome any and all obstacles. I pray that we made you proud. I apologize to you and your family for not visiting you during this difficult time....it was just to hard for me. It reminded me of the loss of my daughter, not wanting to say goodbye to someone so loved. I choose to remember your laughter, calling me and everyone else sonny, telling me stories of the old day's when "Longies" were true Longshoremen and popping cups at the new Jack Murphy Stadium with you when i was 10 years old. My Dad told me a long time ago that with respect to our Union Brothers it seems the great one's always pass away to soon. In your case, we've lost one of the BEST! Be assured that Bubba & I will continue to "tow the line" and pass on the knowledge that we had the honor of learning from you. I'll miss you my friend. Thank you for being my Dads best partner and a much loved family friend. May GOD bless and keep you. Longie for life, Longie forever!!!!

To My Loving Father,
I will miss you every day for the rest of my life. I want to thank you for teaching me life, hard work, keeping your word, and honesty. I thank you for the great times you and I had going to all the parades, amusement parks and the penny arcade. Letting me go on the fishing boats and the ships at the port. All the family picnics, BBQ's and beach parties. I feel so lucky to have had a Dad like you. I was the "problem child" you were always there for me and never gave up on me.
Thanks for being a great "Tata" to Heather, Zac, Gabby, Giana, and Zaine. When you retired, I was hoping you would be able to enjoy your life, you and Mom did do that. That made me happy to see you spend quality time with each other. I know it was not easy raising four kids but we never went without a thing. When I'd ask for a new pair of shoes you'd say, "people in hell want ice water", that meant "no", so I got a babysitting job to buy my shoes. I have good work ethics because of you. When you were diagnosed with cancer, you were so concerned about me getting tested and I did. Don't worry I will keep up on that. You never complained about being sick, even up to the end, what courage you showed me. Dad the battle is over and I know you are in a better world.
Rest in peace and the Lord be with you.
With all my love,
Marlene Sue Gooden LeMoine

Fat Dog was one of my dad's truly great friends, and very much loved by my entire family. I'll never forget his voice, and the way he called my "sonny" even after I turned 40. Margie, the entire Harper family sends our love and prayers. So many friends and family are hurting right now, I am thinking how happy Rick, Jim, and Pat are now. What a party they are having! God Bless.
