Ray was a family member to me for over forty years. He was part step-dad, part mentor, and one-hundred percent hero. Ray was there through thick and thin; good days and bad days; and whatever came around the corner at mom and the family. He is, and will forever be in my heart. He was Rose's love, and will be missed by Marc, Oscar, and the Andrade gang.

Ray was one of those all around great guys. He is no doubt now in the good company of many like type former buddies and colleagues who successfully passed through Saint Peters Gate ahead of him.
Best wishes, ol' friend. With luck, we'll all meet there again one day.

Ray was a very level-headed person and dedicated officer. A great smile and a very good listener. My thoughts and prayers go to the family.

He was the perfect mix of teddy bear and protector. He was kind, generous, fun, loveable, strong-willed, authoritative, and protective. He is painfully missed. His laugh will ring in my heart for years to come.

He always did what needed to be done. Never shrank back. But, he was also the goober uncle who could talk a 4-year old niece into giving herself a shampoo and facial with a melted chocolate bar. Miss you, Uncle Ray.

Ray was a good friend and a "cop's cop." He emanated all the qualities and personality of SDPD's finest. I have fond remembrances of him in Patrol and Detectives, as well as off-duty. RIP till we meet again, my friend.

Great cop and big loss for San Diego. So many have better lives because of Ray's service. My thoughts go out to his family

I worked for Ray when he was a new sergeant and he immediately earned my respect. He was a giant in many ways, but was unsurpassed in honesty and integrity.

Ray always had a smile on his face and brightened up the room when he entered.

I was a Homicide Detective in August 1996 when He called me into his office from the field. I thought I was in some sort of trouble until he broke into a smile and addressed me as Sgt Jackson. Ray was all smiles as he told me of my promotion.

It was certainly a highlight of my life, as well as my career. I was very happy to share that moment with Ray, as I knew he enjoyed giving me the news.

I am saddened to hear of Ray's passing. He was a great cop and he served his community well. I shall not forget him.
