Robert Schlapper Obituary

Schlapper, Robert A. ESCONDIDO -- Robert "Bob" Schlapper, 88, was born and raised in Concordia, Mo. He passed away on December 19, 2012 in Escondido, Calif. Burial will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concordia. Bob was born on April 11, 1924. he was the son of A.J. H. and Ella Gruebbel Schlapper. He was married to Erleen Marth on February 19, 1949 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia. He was a 1942 graduate of Concordia High School. Bob was a Sergeant of Infantry of WWII, fighting the Germans in Europe, where he was wounded. After two years of military service during WWII, he returned to the University of Missouri at Columbia where in 1948, he received a B.S. degree in Business, and a ROTC 2nd Lieutenant commission in the Air Force. He returned to active military duty as an Air Force Officer, retiring in 1976 after 30 years as a Lt. Colonel. He lived with his wife Erleen, in Scripps Ranch, San Diego, Calif., until 2008. He and Erleen then moved to Escondido, Calif., where Erleen still resides. He was preceded in death by his brother, William A. Schlapper of La Mirada, Calif., who passed away April 20, 2009.
