Rudolph Kempter Obituary

Kempter Jr, Rudolph H. LCDR, Navy (Ret) On May 12, 2015, in Carlsbad, CA, Rudolph Kempter passed away. He was born in 1922 in St. Albans, VT, grew up in Burlington, VT, graduated from Burlington High School, and attended the University of Vermont. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served in the South Pacific in WWII. After completing his Engineering degree at the University of Notre Dame in 1948, he served in the Korean War. Subsequently, he became a Navy Missile System Program Manager and then served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Rudolph formed a Value Engineering business partnership from 1974 to 1989, assisting governments and industry world-wide. He was a staff lecturer in engineering management at the George Washington University for over 20 years, a Member of Society of American Value Engineers (SAVE), Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis, the National Press Club, and Sigma Phi. Rudolph was the beloved husband of Sandra Kempter for 35 years of marriage; devoted father of Paul Kempter, Bryan Kempter and Jeff Kempter by first marriage to Margaret Ann Gilkinson (Dec. 1975); loving grandfather of Patrick Kempter, Kevin Kempter, Alison Kempter, Clara Kempter and Jimmy Kempter; and cherished brother of Dr. Charles P. Kempter (Dec. 2006). Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Burlington, VT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
