Ted was such a nice man. He patiently answered our questions, whether we were a customer at his nursery or whether it was at one of the East County Rose Society meetings. He is already missed.

A beautiful image, for a lovely man.

Special thanks to the family for such a lovely memorial service. Forever and ever, I will remember Ted dancing at that party at the nursery! Ted always came through for me (and our clients) so many times when I managed the Cool Communities Shade Tree program. It was a daunting challenge. I recall him personally handling the delivery of a mulberry tree to a training site (around 7:00am), when another nursery didn't show up as promised. His knowledge, helpful attitude, and genuine humanity were always refreshing, and his entire staff reflected that personal touch. I also feel very fortunate to have seen him so animated just weeks before his passing when the nursery hosted the California Rare Fruit Grower's picnic and tour. RIP Ted. You'll be missed.

He was our terrific guest speaker at the Blossom Vly Garden Club a few months ago. Spoke to him 2 wks ago and he asked when he could come back! A walking Encyclopedia who truly gave of himself. We asked him some tough ones, and he would nail it! He will be sorely missed for a long long time. Lavon Jones

My yard is truly lovely thanks to Ted and all the landscaping provided by Kniffings nursery. He was always available to share his knowledge. He came to my home for a Blossom Valley Garden Club meeting to talk
about roses and for several hours he answered everyone's questions not related to roses.
A kind and gentle man. My most sincere sympathy to Eva and family.

Bruce and I have many fond memories of Ted including the time he went with us on our Japan garden tour. To our surprise he spoke Japanese and told us he learned the language when he was in the service. He was a wonderful travel companion and a dear friend. If there is a sushi bar in heaven, may Ted always have a place there to enjoy one of his favorite meals. Friends always, Sharon and Bruce Asakawa

Dearest Kniffing Family,

I was blessed to get to know Ted because Ted was always generous to the Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College. I was simply a volunteer at The Garden, yet Ted treated me as a special visitor. He was a true classic.

This can be a difficult time for all of you now, but may you still dwell on Ted's joy. And call on Our Lord for strength and endure on God's love.

All of us at JCMS Landscaping will miss Ted's smile and his incredible kindness over the years. We express our deepest condolences for the entire Kniffing family during this sad time and keep you in our thoughts. We will remember Ted fondly and also share in your loss. Sincerely, Your friends: Mark, Les, Gabe, Jesse, and Michaela

So sorry to hear the news about the passing of Mr. Ted Kniffing. Our condolences. Ted was a man with many good traits: Charismatic, Generous, Humble, and very lovable. Our yard is filled with his plants and flowers. His flowers always made us better, happier and they are sunshine, food and medicine to our soul. It was a pleasure the years I worked with Ted and the family. I learned so much from this talented and gifted man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Ted, you will be missed but never forgotten. I will plant a tree in his Honor.

How sad to learn the felling of one of our mighty oaks! As my primary nurseryman, Ted was the guy to get plants, trees, etc. to make my designs literally come to life; quality materials from a quality business from a quality man who loved his work to the end. Your knowledge and talents, I pray, will one day be put towards transforming the earth into the paradise where perhaps we will work together again. Maybe you'll find that yellow spathodea we, for years, have been looking!

To one of the best friends Jack and I ever had and how I will miss you. I pray you and Jack are together in God's gardens and making all those beautiful blooms together. I love you "Teddy" as I always called you and made you smile...but you always smiled anyway just like my Jack. My love and prayers are with Eva and all the family.....and I promise to be better about seeing them in the months ahead....Rest in Peace dear Ted and hug my Jack for me............Love Bonnie Shoultz

How do we remember someone? It could be in great things accomplished but my recollection of Mr. Knifing are two small but revealing things I have observed. Faithfully arriving in church and pausing to write a check ("where your heart is, there your treasure also is") and trusting me, a stranger, to pay later when I left my wallet at home. His devotion to his wife also was easily seen.

My wife and I send our sincere condolences to the Kniffing family. Ted offered many helpful hints and ideas on landscaping our home dating back to your nursery in Spring Valley (across from Mt. Miguel H. S.). We were not only customers, but considered Ted and Eva our friends. Rest In Peace Ted.

My sincere condolences to the Kniffing family. Ted inspired me to be a better gardener and was the ultimate experienced rose source. He was a kind and gentle man and it was fun just talking to him at the nursery. I will miss him but will remember him always as I take care of my roses the way he taught me. May he rest in peace. God bless you all.
