WALTER LEITMEYER Obituary

LEITMEYER Sr., WALTER JAMES Walter James Leitmeyer Sr., son of John and Helen Leitmeyer; loving father of Walter and Robyn, loving grandfather of David Arnold, Walter Leitmeyer III, Melissa and Shaun and loving great-grandfather to Garvin Scurr. Most loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Lovingly referred to as, "Pops". Pops served in the United States Army, 28th INF Division from 1952 to 1953 earning him the Occupation of Germany and National Defense medals. He worked and retired from the United States Postal Service after 28 years. Pops was a member and President for the Postal Vehicle Union. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5985 and a member of the American Legion Post # 0460. Pops was an avid pool player winning numerous awards. He will always be lovely remembered and missed. Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 6th, from 3-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Rosary, and a Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 7th, at 1 p.m. at Clairemont Mortuary, 4266 Mt. Abernathy Ave., San Diego, CA 92117. Clairemont Mortuary Directors: 858-279-2211.

I didn't know Uncle Walt that well do to the fact my age and the distance, NJ to Cal., but I do remember when he would to visit my Dad(Al), and three of the brothers-Jack, Walt and Al were together they would enjoy each others company. And I'm sure that's what they are still doing.

Uncle Walt was a great uncle. I do remember when he came to Chicago on his way back to San Diego after seeing his brother Al ( my father) . Uncle Walt spent about 2 or 3 days but it was fun.
We will miss him.
