Aimee Reed Obituary

March 1923-June 20, 2010 Aimee Reed, 87, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, in Sierra Vista, Ariz. She was born in Emmet, N.D., to John and Estelle Arvidson, the fourth of nine children. She attended Jamestown College in North Dakota before she moved to Washington DC, where she met and married Malcolm E. Reed. They both worked for American Airlines. Later they moved to San Luis Obispo and bought a chicken ranch with her parents and sold eggs to local restaurants and bakeries. The personal service of Arvidson and Reed eggs home delivery routes was popular with local residents and still remembered fondly. The ranch was sold 15 years later to a friend of John Wayne, and Aimee began a third career as an accounts clerk with the County Probation Office, where she worked until she retired. Aimee enjoyed traveling and loved the big rocks at Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, and Yosemite, but her favorite was Chiricahua National Park in Arizona. Her love of laughter and her smile will be missed. Aimee is survived by her daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Cudlip of Sierra Vista; and many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins, friends and neighbors. A remembrance will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, at her home in California. Call (805) 783-2306 for details.

While on earth Aimee filled my life with her laughter and love. She has left us to be in heaven with God and reunite with her family. She still fills my heart with her warmth.
Aimee became my sister in 1952 and we shared our love for 58 years. I will miss her soft voice, quick wit, smile and beautiful face. I will see her again some day, until then Ginny, you can fill some of the void.

Some of my favorite memories of living in California are of breakfast with Aimee. My driveway to hers was 185 miles. Then in the morning I got to set with her and her African Violets enjoying a coddled egg with a muffin topped with lemon curd and good conversation. Those mornings are a gift I will treasure always. She was graciousness personified. She will be missed. Suellen

I feel so lucky to have spent some time with Aunt Aimee in the last few years. Her sense of humor and devilishness were as strong as ever! What a wonderful generation of Arvidsons she belonged to -- so sad that Aimee, the last of her generation, has now left us. Ginny, you have a wonderful heritage, you have your parents' sense of humor, you have our love. Be strong -- see you soon. Love, cousin Terry.

I will always remember my Aunt Aimee for her cool sophistication and love of life. Her sense of humor and wit, and that twinkle in her eye always brought laughter and warmth to our family gatherings. I love you Aunt Aimee! Your niece, Beth.
